When you think of a dungeon master, you probably think of a strong man or woman clad in leather ordering you to your knees. But for me, dungeon masters are very different. I think of one of my friends sitting at the head of a large table, weaving a fantastical world for me to explore in a game of Dungeons & Dragons. So, let’s have a look at the similarities between BDSM and D&D.
Roleplay
Whether you’re playing Dungeons & Dragons with your friends or playing out your hottest fantasies with your mistress, you are probably engaging in some roleplaying. Roleplay can be intimidating if you’ve never done it before, but my top tips are ‘fake it till you make it’ and ‘keep it simple’. A good mistress or master (like a good D&D group) won’t judge you if your acting is a bit stiff or not fully realistic. The most important thing is that you (and your partner or players) are enjoying yourself.
Leather
Not all mistresses and masters wear leather, but it’s a classic look for a reason. Often, they won’t wear a full leather outfit but will accessorise with leather collars or cuffs or even toys. D&D groups are much the same. At a regular gaming session, you might not wear a full leather ranger’s outfit, but accessories are definitely encouraged. And if you and your friends decide to go to a medieval festival or a Renaissance fair, then a full leather outfit would fit right in.
Dice
In Dungeons & Dragons, you use dice to decide almost everything. Whether you can see a hidden treasure or how much damage you do to a foe is all decided by the roll of a die. There’s even a huge market for custom dice to match you or your character’s aesthetic. Meanwhile, in the bedroom, you can use sex dice to decide your next move. There are a few different kinds, some with just fun positions to try or others that work in pairs, one for the action and the other for the body part.
