Rev your engines! It is Summernats week in the Australian capital, Canberra, and things are about to get hot. Summernats is the hottest and biggest specialist car enthusiast festival. So here is what it’s all about.

History

Summernats was originally run on the last day of December in 1987 and was known as the Street Machine Summer Nationals. The name Summernats is a portmanteau of “Summer” and “National”. It is now regularly held at the start of the year over a four-day period, with two days before dedicated to vehicle inspections. 

Events

Summernats is chock full of fun car events. Here are some of the events you can expect to see.

Burnout Championship

Watch tyres shred, engines scream, and cars go head-to-head in the ultimate tests of skill, power and control.

Precision International Skid Row

Two cars run side by side and fill the air with smoke and engine screams as they fry their tyres in a skid off. 

Motokhana

Drivers must put their reflexes to the test on a tight course and up against the clock.

Exhibitions

Cars will be on display, revving their engines and showing just how much horsepower is under the hood.

Cruising & Parades

Watch all the hot rods and cool cars drive by with a range of cruises, convoys and parades.

Live Music

Head to the main stage and listen to a range of live music, including Peking Duk, The Living End, The Screaming Jets and Killing Heidi.

Can you believe it? 2025 is nearly over! To close out the year, I have chosen the hottest book, movie and TV show of the year for you to enjoy. 

Caught Up

The award for hottest book of the year has to go to Caught Up by Navessa Allen. It is the second book in the Into Darkness series, and it is just as hot (if not more so) as Lights Out. Nico “Junior” Trocci has a dark obsession with Lauren Marchetti, even if he knows she’s off limits. But paying for scantily clad or even fully pornographic videos online isn’t enough anymore; he’s ready to go after what he wants. Can Lauren fight the white-hot desire building between them?
The audiobook is even better with the dulcet tones of Teddy Hamilton and Kasi Hollowell stealing the show. If you haven’t read or listened to it yet, then you are missing out! 

Sinners

For the hottest film, I have to pick Sinners. Sinners came out in April of this year, and it is the perfect mix of jumps scares, thrilling action and spicy sex scenes. You’ll follow twin brothers ‘Smoke’ and ‘Stack’, played by the ever-handsome Michael B. Jordan, as they return to their hometown for a fresh start. However, a dark and supernatural evil has come to town and threatens to destroy everything. It starts off pretty slow, introducing all the main characters and how their pasts intertwine before getting into the thrilling action after dark. It’s a great watch to cuddle up with a partner while you’re thrilled and tantalised at the same time. 

Heated Rivalry

If you’ve read some of my other blogs, you may have seen me recommend Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid. Well, that fantastic book has been adapted into one of the best TV shows I’ve ever seen. I’m a little bit obsessed. It follows two pro hockey stars, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, who have a hot rivalry on the ice and an even hotter connection in the bedroom. Can they resist each other, or is the tension on and off the ice too much?
Truly one of the hottest shows I’ve ever seen! Definitely worth the watch.

Christmas is only a couple of days away, and I thought I would get you all into the Christmas spirit with a list of the hottest Santas you can watch this season.

Klaus

Starting off strong, we have Klaus from the animated film Klaus. He is strong, gentle and good with his hands. Add on a heavy dose of hulking forest man and a tendency towards silence, and I’d say you have the perfect winter crush. The movie itself is a heartwarming tale of a postman who sets out to prove himself and ends up bringing light and warmth to a frozen town. A great watch for the whole family.

Rise Of The Guardians

Yes, this is another animated Santa, but hear me out. This Santa is tall, buff and tatted! He’s like a mafia boss but more joyful. Plus, he has an accent, and who doesn’t love an accent? Nicholas St. North is just one of the many lovable characters in Rise of the Guardians. This movie is one of my favourite Christmas flicks and has a star-studded cast. It’s heartfelt and adventurous. I would definitely recommend giving it a watch.

The Christmas Chronicles

Last but not least, we have Saint Nick from The Christmas Chronicles. This bad boy of Christmas is played by the ever-handsome Kurt Russel. He is more rock and roll than round and rosy. So, if you prefer unique Christmas movies with a fun twist, then this movie is for you. It’s got action, humour and even a musical number.
