Novelty sex toys can be lots of fun, and the most common kind are rose-shaped clitoral stimulators. But are they as good as they look? Well, I’ve tested one and here are my thoughts!

Aesthetics

This is where rose toys get top marks. They are so cute to look at! The design is simple and elegant. They are pretty easy to clean, as they are usually made from silicone, and the top section is often removable so you can reach all the nooks and crannies. You can even buy versions now that have a ‘stem’ which works as a G-spot stimulator or have egg vibrators attached (these don’t look as nice, in my opinion).

Size

The size of the rose toy is another bonus! They are quite small, so fit nicely in your hands and are easy to store. Also, most versions come with at least two different sizes for the head to fit different types of clits. So if you travel a lot or are short on space, this would be a great toy for you.

Stimulation

Now this is where the rose toy falls behind. For a newbie to clitoral stimulators, this would be great. I’ve found the vibrations to be pretty light to medium, so it still feels nice but isn’t super overwhelming. They are also very easy to use, with only a couple of buttons, and once you turn it on, you can just move it around your clitoris until you find the perfect spot for you. You can also use the vibrations to tease other parts of your body or those of your partner. However, if you have used other stimulators and often use higher settings, this might not work for you.

Overall, rose toys are a great first toy and a really good choice if you are looking for something small and compact. You can find a range of rose toys on online retailers such as Lovehoney or Amazon. Are you a gamer looking to spice up your sex life? Well, we have done some digging and worked out which video games are the best to play when your partner tries to distract you. There’s nothing worse than almost defeating a tough enemy only to lose concentration as your partner moves their mouth or hands in that way that makes your toes curl. So here are Harlots’s hot game recommendations

First-Person Shooters

Our first recommendation is first-person shooters like Call of Duty & Halo. The campaigns for these games aren’t usually very challenging, so it’s not a huge problem if you get a little distracted, but they are pretty violent, which may kill the mood. If you are an exhibitionist, you may enjoy playing in online multiplayer and hiding your pleasure. Just make sure you have your mic set to push-to-talk so you don’t scar an unsuspecting stranger.

Metroidvanias

Next up are Metroidvanias. Metroidvanias are action-adventure games that are non-linear and require you to obtain certain tools or abilities to unlock new areas or overcome obstacles. The term Metroidvania comes from two games that use these core ideas, Metroid and Castlevania. My preferred metroidvania is Hollow Knight. These games are usually more challenging than a first-person shooter, so require more concentration during certain puzzles or challenging fights but when just traversing the world, you can just sit back, relax and let yourself enjoy what your partner is doing to you.

Roguelites

If you are worried about the consequences of dying in your video game, then roguelites might work for you. Roguelites are RPGs that are often dungeon crawls, where you collect benefits on each run. When you die, these benefits can be used to permanently upgrade your abilities or items. This way, if you get too distracted in the throes of passion, you won’t completely destroy your progress. My personal favourites are Hades and Hades II, which are both fun and have hot character art.

Simulations

Lastly, for our cozy gamers, I’d recommend simulation games. Farming sims are usually pretty relaxed, and if you get distracted, you’ll only lose a day in-game and maybe a small amount of resources. My favourite farming sims are Stardew Valley and Coral Island. Otherwise, you could try a dating sim to get you in the mood. These are usually point-and-click adventures, or if not, have very few time-sensitive tasks, so if you lose yourself to your partner’s machinations, it’s not going to ruin your dating chances. A big bonus of dating sims is also the hot artwork that will definitely help set the mood. My top two dating sims are Date Everything and Dream Daddy

Most of the games I’ve discussed can be found on Steam or on the PlayStation and Xbox stores. If you would like to test your concentration, come on down to Harlots!

Today I’m tackling a tough topic: erectile dysfunction. ED can be hard (pun intended) to talk about; it’s a deeply personal issue and can feel very embarrassing. But let me ease your worries, while not normal ED is surprisingly common, and there are heaps of methods to help treat it.

What Is Erectile Dysfunction?

Erectile Dysfunction, aka ED or impotence, is the inability to get or keep an erection. It can affect up to 50% of men aged 40 to 70. Now the occasional failure to get an erection is normal and often related to alcohol, anxiety, tiredness or a combination of all three. However, if you are having ongoing issues, then that’s not normal, and you need to have a chat with your doctor.

Causes Of Erectile Dysfunction

There are lots of different factors that can cause ED. Anxiety or depression used to be considered the main cause, but is in fact only the main cause in 1 of 10 cases. Most cases of ED are physical or anatomical, with ED being a symptom of another problem. Some examples of main causes are illnesses such as diabetes, MS, or high blood pressure. It can also be a side effect of surgery, like a radiation treatment or a prostatectomy, or a side effect of medications. Another leading cause is your lifestyle, like smoking, alcohol and obesity. So what are some treatments for ED?

Counselling & Therapy

While only the main cause in 1 of 10 cases, anxiety, depression and stress can seriously impact your ability to maintain an erection. Counselling and therapy can be a great way to combat these issues and may also help with your ED.

Vacuum Erection Devices

Vacuum erection devices or penis pumps are a drug-free way of treating ED. They help by increasing the blood flow to the penis and can help create an erection that works well enough for penetration. However, they tend not to be as effective as medications.

Medications

While medications can be the cause of ED, some medications can also be the treatment. If medication is the cause, you can discuss changing your prescription with your doctor. However, there are a few prescription medications that can help improve the blood flow to the penis, famously the little blue pill. These medications won’t cause erections, but will help boost any erections you get. However, these medications can have their own side effects like facial flushing, headaches and sometimes muscle pain and reflux. There are also now versions of this medication that can be compounded into lozenges, which tend to be more effective. As always with medications, have a discussion with your doctor about what’s right for you.

Injections

For those men who can’t take oral medications, there are injections available. They can be a bit daunting as you inject them straight into the penis, but the needle is very small and most users find it surprisingly painless, a 1.1/10 on the pain scale. This injection takes about 5 minutes to kick in, forces an erection even if you aren’t aroused, and you’ll be hard for about 45 minutes. This medication is serious stuff, so you definitely need medical guidance before use.

I hope this helps you tackle ED and have those tough conversations with your doctor. For more information on erectile dysfunction, you can read more here. Or if you’d like to try out some of these techniques, you can see all the gorgeous escorts we have available here!
