Fetlife was created in 2008 by a software engineer in Quebec, John Kopanas, AKA John Baku. It was originally an updated version of his first fetish site, FriendsWithFetishes, which he created the year prior. However, Kopanas decided to launch it as a separate site, and that is how Fetlife was born. Fetlife has grown to have over 12 million members and over 900,000 fetishes and kinks listed on the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like most social media sites, to use Fetlife you need to create an account. What sets it apart from the other sites is that on your profile, you can choose your preferred kinky roles and what you are looking for on the site. As a member, you can then join a range of groups, from ones for a specific kink to specific locations. How each group is run depends on the creator and moderators, but most are an open-style forum where you can post and discuss anything to do with the main topic of the group.
